PLAYABILITY

Main Menu

The Main Menu has been designed so that the navigation is very quick and easy to use. The Main Menu allows you to Play a new game; Resume a previous game; Longest Drive competitions; Nearest to Pin competitions; Virtual Range practise driving; Virtual Putt practise putting and Exit to Windows.

 

Play Screen

Play Screen allows golfers to simply start a game. Course - select from the list of available courses. Competition - select from the list of games available. Holes - select either 18 holes, front 9, back 9 or individual holes. Players - allows you to select the players from the database. Clouds - select from none, few or many. Weather - select fine, gusty or rain; future conditions will include snow. Exit to Main Screen, Defaults to Defaults Screen and Play to start game.

Players Screen

Allows previous players' details to be quickly entered into new games. As the players data has been previously saved this includes name, tee box, handicap, preferred hand, boost and the preferred clubs in their bag. This data can be edited by the golfer, if required.

 

Helicopter Flyby

Helicopter Flybys occur automatically, before teeing off. So that you are fully aware of the difficulty and beauty of each and every hole. During the flyby you will also notice the incredible realism of the simulator, with leaves and even grass moving with the wind. The reflective shadows of water move as you fly, and you view the extreme detail of the plants and fauna.

Game

During the game you are able to view the playing information, wind and club information in the top left. The bottom left gives the top view and distance information. Where as in the bottom right you can change the playing view by pressing the arrow right or left buttons, or bring up the options.

 

Ball Fly

Flying with the Ball, golfers find the experience of flying through the air with the ball extreme fun. As you follow the exact flight path of the ball, through to landing on the ground and rolling along the ground, until its final resting place. The ball flight perspective can also be defaulted to the traditional view of a ball trail on a static screen.

Ball Trace

Ball Trace the older traditional style, is also a game play option. The trace shows you the flight path, with an animation trail of golf balls. It is possible to have static shot or ball fly, with the ball trace.

 

Options

Options allows you to select show flag, helicopter fly-by, scorecard, re-hit, practise, replay shot, next player, hole out, next hole, last shot results, grid, close and quit the game.

Reverse Replay

Reverse Replay is very popular, particularly when hitting a shot to a green. As it shows the ball rolling along, the exact contours of the green. In this replay the weather conditions were set to rain, so you can actually see it raining. This is the world's first simulator to have the unique facility; in the future you will be able to select weather conditions from thunderstorms through to snow storms.

 

Shot Results

Shot Results appear for a set time after every shot, showing detailed swing information. Such as ball speed, total distance, carry, roll, lie position with a visual, distance to cup, shot elevation, club head speed, tempo, swing path and club face angle. The next golfer(s) to play are shown, along with distance to cup and suggested club. Replays buttons allow forward replay, overhead replay and reverse replay as listed below. There are 5 club head animations, showing graphically the swing path and club face angle at impact. As well as 3 golf ball animations, which show you the initial direction of the shot.

Scorecard

During the Game you can view or print out the scorecard for the course.
